The Kindergarten class is excited about the Read-A-Thon! Today your child is bringing home a special bookmark to help remind him or her to read, read and read some more over vacation. Keep track of all the minutes on the read-a-thon calendar! We think we can be the class with the most minutes per child, if everyone does their best to spend a little extra time reading over our vacation!

Today the children eagerly took on sewing a little "tooth pocket". I am impressed by the great sewing each child did! Seeing the looks on their faces as they progressed with this project was priceless. I think they amazed themselves! The Kindergartner's positive attitude and willingness to try new, and even difficult things, makes everything we do in school so much fun! As a part of our Science unit, the children are learning about the different types of fabrics and how fabric is made. Today they really enjoyed weaving with yarn. One student said "Oh good, now I will be able to weave clothes for my children when I am a grownup!" ~ It is so exciting when the children look for ways they can apply the information we are learning in Kindergarten to their life and the future :) !! We Can Weave!!It is hard to believe this was our playground with a huge puddle on March 3rd.
See how much things have changed in 14 days. We Love Spring!! Lucky the Leprechaun's hair has grown just in time for St. Patricks Day! I am looknig forward to our Parent Teacher Conferences Tomorrow and Friday. Today we helped Lucky the Leprechaun begin to get ready for St. Patrick's Day. We wonder how long it will take for his hair to grow! The children also loved reading to the "pets" from the Pet Shop dramatic play center: The children comented on how well all of the pets "listened" to them read!
Encourage your child to spend time reading to a few special stuffed (or real) pets at home. ~ It is great opportunity to practice reading when Mom or Dad are busy doing something else!! ~ Mrs. McCaffrey Today we celebrated Dr. Seuss & Read Across America!
It was fun reading many different books that were written by Dr. Seuss. It is hard to believe it is already March!
We are enjoying the beautiful sunshine and watching the snow melt away! We worked on the _et word family today. Tomorrow we will celebrate Dr. Suess' Birthday. If your child has a favorite Dr. Suess Book to share with the class we would love to see it! (I have plenty for those who do not have a copy to bring to school.) ~ Mrs. McCaffrey |
