The day we have been counting on since our fist day of school has finally arrived! We celebrated our 100th Day of Kindergarten with a learning celebration. Almost everything we did today was related to the wonderful number 100.
We read a poem that had 100 words, sang a 100 day song, sang & counted along with the Big Number Song, designed glasses, cut 100 straight lines to make a fring hat, filled in a 100 number grid with a special pattern using our names, shared our creative displays of 100 items, made a 100th day snack, read the book Ms. Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten, and stacked 100 cups. It was a fun filled day of learning! Here are a few of the children's creative displays of 100 items!
Thanks to our terrific families for helping with this project at home. The children LOVED singing, counting, and reading along to this song this week! Continue to the next post to see a bunch of photos from our 100th Day of School Learning Celebration...
Today I heard many children say: "This is the BEST day of my life!!"
We all had an awesome Valentine's Day. Thanks to Tom's Mom & Grandma for putting on the wonderful party. The children made a tissue paper flower & enjoyed decorating a Valentine vase. The treat was delicious! We did a math activity with Valentine candy.
It was so much fun watching the children's expressions when they opened each Valentine. They were so thoughtful and thanked each other for the Valentine cards and treats, as they opened them. Again, I heard many children saying" this is the best day ever!" May we always continue to find such joy in the simple things in life!
I hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day! February is dental health month. It is a perfect time to learn about taking care of our teeth.
The children had fun flossing, brushing sight words off their paper teeth, and practicing addition with "mouth math." We have also been reading books about teeth. At choice time one of our friends wrote a cute book about her dentist!
Excitement is also building for Valentines Day. The children enjoyed mixing colors and painting hearts.
I am extremely proud of all of the children in my class! Everyone enjoyed having a special job in today's Mass. They did an outstanding job! It makes my heart melt to see these little people doing such amazing things so confidently. What a blessing it is for us to have the opportunity to actively share these faith filled experiences with our classmates, school & community. Thanks to those who were able to join us for Mass today. (The children were delighted to see that their bus driver was at Mass to pray with us today as well.)
When we got back to the classroom, the children wrote about this experience in their journals.
I think their work is precious!! I went to the church and I see Father Liekhus.
We are going to church.
I got to bring the wine up to Father Liekhus. I got to bring up the bread. It was fun.
We all got a job at Mass. I took the food.

I am reading a sheet that talks about Jesus and God. It was Great! At Mass we did the mass. I did the reading. It was fun.
I liked the readings at Mass. I took the food basket.

This morning we learned interesting facts about groundhogs. We used the Kare11 weather forecast app to help us predict if the groundhog will see his shadow tomorrow (Groundhog Day). We all tallied our predictions, made a graph showing the results, and analyzed our data. We will wait to see what actually happens tomorrow! Do you hope the groundhog sees his shadow? The children made a groundhog project to go along with a poem. A few of the children read the poem to special people in our school. Have a Great Weekend. Enjoy the BEAUTIFUL new snow!! Grondhog UPDATE: According to the KARE11 news, the official Groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil in Punxsutawney, Pensylvania DID NOT see his shadow this morning.
