Today the children used the ipads to take a "spelling test". The children took turns being the teacher and the writer, quizzing each other on how to spell the -at family words. I think they are -at word experts now! The children also made a bat ruler that they used to measure & record
the lengths of different objects in our classroom. We could not resist the opportunity to see how many bats tall we were as well! I hope you had a great LONG weekend! Thank you for taking time to meet with me for Parent Teacher conferences last week! I enjoyed talking to you about your wonderful children. Last week we started working with the new sight word 'the'. The children get so excited when they find 'the' in books we are reading! We have also been working on writing 'the' as well. The -at word family has been keeping us busy this week. With the help of bats the children are reading, writing, and spelling many different words that end in -at. The children enjoyed making a bat word holder & playing a bat toss game. We have also been talking about vowels. (Your child might enjoy singing along to the Vowel Bat song below. I have also posted a link to the book Stellaluna that we read last week at school.)
