We had a BEAUTIFUL day for our field trip to the apple orchard. We all had a great time. I heard a few kids saying & agreeing that this was "the BEST day ever!" One of our friends lost her tooth while eating an apple!

Fire Chief Dale Specken, Firefighter Grniet & Firefighter Grams from the Hopkins Fire Department visited our Kindergrten classroom this morning. They taught the children about some very important safety rules.
If your clothes catch on fire: Stop, Drop & Roll. Cool a Burn with Cold Water. Crawl Low in Smoke. The children had fun practicing what they learned! See photos below This is a great time to talk at home about your family's "Safe Meeting Place" & check the batteries in your smoke detectors at home! The Hopkins Fire Department will have their annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Saturday Oct. 15th. It is always a fun & educational event for the entire family! Thank you to all of our wonderful parents for sending in the apples today! I can not tell you how exciting it was for the children to have that apple sitting on our desk all day! Many students were extremely tempted to eat the apple right away in the morning! Thanks to Brooke for bringing in apple sauce that we enjoyed for morning snack- that helped a lot! We sorted apples & had apple show and tell - it was interesting hearing the names of many different types of apples. Honey Crisp was the most popular. We did many different activities with our apples. Your child brought home an apple investigation sheet about his or her apple. Wow - the children really enjoyed eating the apples this afternoon. We read the book 10 Apples Up on Top! So, we had to try balancing the apple on our heads. We think 10 would be pretty difficult. THANK YOU to our Moms & Dads for sending apples to school today!
