In our room we have a special Advent Wreath and a little manger that we are filling with pieces hay when we do extra good deeds for others. This is one of the ways we are preparing our hearts for Jesus this Advent.

The Kindergarten & First Grade students celebrated our 50th Day of School on Thursday, Nov. 17th. We had a lot of fun learning about what life was like back in 1950’s. We compared it to our lives in 2011. We had a Sock Hop complete with dancing, root beer floats, bubble gum, hula hoops & even a bowling relay! The children also played with some classic games and toys from the 50’s. Each student also decorated his or her own record. We all really had a BLAST!! I am very proud of the children for having self control and tons of fun at the same time. WOW can they do the Hand Jive, Twist & Limbo!! The dancing was just precious. Thanks to our families for putting time & effort into finding a 50's Day outfit for your child today. Everyone looked so cool!
Thank you to Mr. Tangney for working at our Malt Shop this afternoon. Fun Fact: Our St. John's School opened in 1950. WARNING: I went a little crazy with my camera today. The children were so cute I could not resist! Enjoy the photos below: -click on any photo to enlarge it- It is our big 50’s week in the Kindergarten & First Grade. Our 2 classrooms joined forces to see if we could try to bring in 50 items of food for the food shelf today. With only 1 night notice, our wonderful families contributed 51 cans in Kindergarten & 26 in First grade for a grand total of 77 items! I wish you all could have heard the cheering as the children arrived this morning & proudly set their offerings on the table as the other students counted higher & higher as we reached our 51st can! WOW!! The children & I are excited & proud of this accomplishment! We are so happy that we are able to share with those less fortunate than us!! THANKS to all of our Moms & Dads for your generosity! This is Kindergarten Kindness! Way to go!!We are in the middle of our Standardized Testing this week. The Kindergartners are really working hard! In our time away from our test booklets the children are truly enjoying their choice time! We cannot forget how much the children learn from each other at playtime!
